I just don’t have the energy to update a blog every night after work, so, I haven’t been. This is going to be a linktastic post. Or, at least, as linktastic as two links can be.

People Don’t Pay Attention

Working in the customer service industry, you get to know a bit about society in general. One thing that I’ve noticed over the last two years, is that people don’t take notice of anything. I work as a ‘Customer Service Attendant’ at a petrol station, and we have signs everywhere, most of them regarding safety. The usual ‘No naked flames’ and ‘Turn off your mobile phone’ stuff near the bowsers. But then we have our advertising signs, the ‘Get two for $5, get something else for free,’ and so on. And then just general instructions regarding transactions on the card reader. People take notice of none of it.

I still see people walking across the forecourt using their mobile phones, people smoking (which means they must have lit the cigarette somewhere nearby, thence a naked flame), people bringing the wrong stuff to the counter to get the deals (this stuff is very clearly signed!), people pressing the cancel button instead of the credit button on the card reader (that’s clearly labeled as well, big black ‘CANCEL’ on the button! Just because it’s red doesn’t mean it’s credit). What really scares me is that I think that these people walk through life taking notice of nothing. It’s really a wonder that they haven’t killed themselves on the road yet.

Yes, I know, there’s the odd person who’s had a bad day, is tired or simply brain drained, but I swear it’s every second person that uses credit goes to press that damned Cancel button. (Just FYI, the Credit button is about an inch above the Cancel button, just above a small plastic barricade that doesn’t let me see them enter their PIN). Okay, that’s it for today.

Okay, so hi. My first post, yay. I’m not sure what I’ll be using this blog for quite yet. I had the idea for the name when I was complaining to one of my friends about some of the customers that I serve.

So, over the next… however long I pay attention to this blog for, you’ll get to know me and my life, what I think and so on. I’ll probably link to thousands of random pictures and webcomics and funny stories, basically everything that I do on the net. So follow, brave Netizen, into the rabbit hole that is my mind.

(P.S. Ignore my disjointed writing style, I’ll mostly be tired or drunk when writing this)
